Medan District Court Judge Sentenced To 7 Years In Prison Owner Of 1 Kg Of Shabu

The panel of judges at the Medan District Court (PN) sentenced Jen Ling to 7 years in prison, Halim's eyebrows, in the case of the owner of 1 kilogram of methamphetamine.

"In addition, the defendant is subject to a fine of Rp. 1 billion if not paid, it will be replaced with six months in prison," said Chief Judge Oloan Silalahi at the Medan District Court, North Sumatra, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 28.

Oloan continued with the same case, the defendant Edy alias Irwan alias Athiong was sentenced to 6 years in prison with a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to 2 months in prison.

"Two defendants were proven and guilty of violating Article 114 paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics," said Oloan.

He said that without rights or against the law he offered to sell which weighed more than 5 grams, namely 1 kilogram of crystal methamphetamine.

Oloan said that the aggravating thing was that the defendant's actions did not support the government's program in eradicating drugs, while the mitigating thing was because he regretted his actions.

After reading the verdict, the panel of judges gave the defendant, legal advisers, and public prosecutors, to accept or appeal against the decision.

This decision is lighter than the demands of the North Sumatra Prosecutor's Office, Maria Fr Tarigan, who demanded that the defendant Jen Ling alias Halim be sentenced to 10 years in prison with a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to 3 months, while the defendant Edy was sentenced to nine years in prison with a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to 3 months in prison.

The indictment revealed that on August 26, 2023, the defendant Edy with the address Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Binjai Kota, Binjai City, was in contact with other defendants.

The defendant Jen Ling entered into taking the methamphetamine she kept in the cupboard in the room of the house. In short, BNN personnel carried out raids that had previously received information from the public.
