25 Houses In Banjarmasin Are Burned Due To Electric Short Circuit, IDR 1 Billion Loss Estimation

BANJARMASIN - Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the West Banjarmasin Police, First Inspector Yadi, said the fire that scorched 25 housing units in Pelambuan Village was suspected to have been caused by a short circuit or an electrical short circuit.

"Based on the results of the temporary investigation, the fire which ravaged 25 houses was caused by a short circuit," Yadi explained as quoted by Antara, Sunday, February 28.

He stated that the intense fire in the densely populated residential area occurred on Ir. PHM Noor Street Alley 4 and Turis Alley RT 030, Pelambuan Village, West Banjarmasin District, Banjarmasin. The fire broke out at around 12:15 Central Indonesia Time on Sunday.

From the information of residents at the location of the fire, the origin of the fire was allegedly from the house belonging to the victim named Momo, who is also a local resident.

The number of houses burned down in the accident was because almost all of the residents' houses at the scene were made of wood.

"We have set a police line on the scene of the fire accident for further investigation," said the first inspector of National Police. The material loss due to the fire is estimated at IDR 1 billion.

"Alhamdulillah, in the fire accident until the fire was successfully extinguished, no casualties were found," said Yadi.
