MATARAM - Hundreds of residents in Pejeruk Ampenan Village, Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara Province, 'invade' cheap rice SPHP in people's market activities carried out by the local Trade Office. The SPHP rice is the target of residents because the price is only Rp. 10,400 per kilogram or below the highest retail price (HET) of Rp. 10,900 per kilogram. "It's okay for us to queue for a long time, because the price of rice in the market reaches Rp. 16,000-Rp. 17,000 per kilogram," said Muniah, one of the residents who was queuing to buy SPHP rice, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, February 27. Meanwhile, the Head of the Basic and Important Materials (Bupokting) Division of the Mataram City Trade Office (Disdag), Sri Wahyunida, who was confirmed regarding the activity, said that the distribution of SPHP rice in one point of people's market activities was allocated 2 tons. "It's just that, because the public's interest is very high in buying this SPHP rice. The 2 tons of quota we have prepared have been sold out in a short time," he said. Moreover, the price of SPHP rice set by Bulog in this people's market activity is cheaper than the market price, so people are willing to queue to get cheap rice. "For equity, one buyer is only allowed to buy a maximum of 10 kilograms or two bags of SPHP rice," he said. In addition to rice, several basic needs that are also targeted by residents in the people's market activities are eggs sold for IDR 45,000 per 30 pills with a moderate size at the BI booth, and there are also IDR 50,000 per 30 grains at other farmers' booths. "Meanwhile, the price of eggs in the market is the same size as IDR 56,000 per 30 pills," he said. As for cooking oil, he continued, it was also the target of residents, especially the type of Minya Kita which was sold according to HET, which was Rp. 14,000 per liter. Then cayenne pepper is priced at IDR 5,000 per 250 grams, while in the market the price reaches IDR 12,500 per 250 grams. According to Sri, the high public interest in shopping at the people's market is in accordance with the activity target, namely to increase people's purchasing power in the midst of rising prices for a number of commodities ahead of Nyepi Day 2024 and Ramadan 1445 Hijri.

"Hopefully this activity can bring people closer, help, and ease the fulfillment of community needs," he said, adding that the people's market activities will last until March 7, 2024, in six sub-districts throughout Mataram City.
