The General Election Commission (KPU) of Garut Regency, West Java, said that an officer of the Voting Organizing Group (KPPS) who was depressed after the election had received medical treatment at the hospital so that his mental condition recovered.

"Yes (there are depression officers), they have undergone treatment," said Head of the Garut Regency KPU Dian Hasanudin as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, February 26.

The man who was depressed was a KPPS officer in Wanaraja District after carrying out his voting duties and calculating the election votes at the polling station.

The officer, he said, previously had a history of mental disorders that are currently recurring, so he had to undergo medical treatment at a mental hospital in Bandung.

"Taken to Bandung by the family and village government for further treatment," he said.

The KPPS officer allegedly recurred when carrying out his duties as KPPS felt pressured, then experienced depression.

"He said he was under pressure," said Dian.

The family then took the officer to the puskesmas to undergo a medical examination, until it was finally decided to be taken to Bandung undergoing treatment at a mental hospital.

All medical treatment costs for the KPPS officers, said Dian, have been borne by the Health Social Security Administering Body (BPJS) program that was previously registered.

"We make sure that the person concerned in the process is 'covered' by the government because the person concerned has a BPJS card," he said.

Previously, it was recorded that during the voting and counting of vote acquisitions, 501 people received medical services, and 39 people underwent outpatient treatment at health centers and hospitals.

During the election, four people died, namely two KPPS officers and two Linmas Unit officers.
