Floods Soak 30 Houses And 2 Hectares Of Agricultural Land In Bima NTB Begin To Recede

Dozens of houses belonging to Labuhan Kananga Village, Tambora District, Bima Regency, were hit by floods after previously heavy rains in the local area.

"The current flood conditions have receded and there have been no casualties," said Head of BPBD Bima Regency Drs Isyrah in Bima, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province, Monday, February 26, as reported by Antara.

The flood was caused by heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds on Sunday, February 25, from 23.10 to Monday 26 February at 02.30 WITA. As a result, rivers in the Tambora sub-district overflowed inundating residents' houses.

"The flood impact is about 30 houses affected and two hectares of agricultural land were hit by floods," he said.

He said the current floods were starting to recede and some people began to clean up the mud and there were no evacuations due to the flood.

"The Tambora crossing bridge, which broke on Thursday, February 22, 2024, Kawinda Toi Village, has been passed and traffic flow is smooth," he said.

After the flood, his party made observations, data collection and rapid assessments as well as disaster emergency handling of affected areas and data collection processes.

"We also urge the entire community to remain alert to extreme weather and disasters that occur such as flash floods, tornadoes and landslides, and drought," he concluded.
