After The Tank Car Accident, Fuel Distribution In Dumai Is Safe

After the fuel tanker accident on Sunday in Dumai, Riau, the fuel needs in the area were still met safely and under control. The distribution of fuel in the area is maintained because PT Pertamina ensures that the supply remains stable.

"Despite the accident, the supply of fuel around Dumai is still safe, this incident does not interfere with operational activities in the area," said Pertamina Patra Niaga, North Sumatra Regional Communication Relations & CSR Area, Susanto August Satria, Monday 26 February.

Susanto added that the company is conducting an investigation and taking preventive steps to anticipate similar incidents in the future. In addition, the company also ensures the safety of the two tank car crew involved in the incident.

"Currently they are receiving treatment at a nearby hospital," he said.

The tank car accident occurred on Sunday afternoon on Jalan Gatot Subroto, kilometer 11, Dumai City, Riau caused a severe fire that scorched a tank truck carrying fuel.

Local residents reported that the tanker overturned while trying to avoid a crude palm oil (CPO) truck crossing the same route.

Pertamina has coordinated with the police for the process of evacuating tank cars using heavy equipment. "Currently, people's mobility at the scene has returned to normal," he said.

Dumai Police Chief, AKBP Dhovan Oktavinton, explained that the driver and kernet managed to save themselves after the truck rolled over. There were no casualties in the incident. "The case is handled by the Dumai Police Traffic Traffic Unit. The loss is estimated at hundreds of millions of rupiah," concluded Dhovan.
