Ministry Of Health Reveals 7 Early Detection Approaches For TB

JAKARTA - The government estimates that tuberculosis or tuberculosis cases in Indonesia reach 969,000 annually. It is targeted that this year the detection of TB cases could reach 90 percent of its estimates. The detection of TB cases in Indonesia had reached the highest number in history in 2022. Based on data from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, more than 724,000 new TB cases were discovered in 2022. Director of Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases of the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) Imran Pambudi said, there are seven shorts in an effort to increase early detection and expand quality TB services. This effort is expected so that TB sufferers who are found are treated more quickly. First, the involvement of all health service facilities (fasyankes), both government and private in general in 34 provinces, especially in 19 priority provinces of PPM. This activity includes advocacy and in-house training to provide networks of laboratory examination access, namely Molecular/TCM Fast Tests and microscopic, and logistics such as drugs through OAT (anti-tuberculosis drugs) programs and Expenditure Materials (BHP), including cadres, pots and others, to health facilities. The second approach is the involvement of a large private hospital network in the TB program. This involvement includes six networks of the largest private hospitals in Indonesia, namely MPKU PP Muhammadiyah, Hermina, Siloam, Pertamina Bina Medika IHC, Primaya, and Mitra Keluarga, with a total of 256 hospitals. "Of course, this private hospital network has achievement indicators including targets for increasing TB case discovery, diagnostic access according to standards with TCM, drug/OAT program access for TB patients, successful treatment, and capacity building for health workers in TB services,” explained Imran. Third, the involvement of the network of hospitals and clinics belonging to the TNI and POLRI in the TB program. This network includes 122 TNI hospitals and 57 POLRI hospitals, as well as 619 TNI clinics and 598 POLRI clinics. “ Activities to increase capacity and strengthen the role of TNI-POLRI health facilities in TB screening. Delivery of feedback per quarter and monev activities to monitor the contribution of TNI and POLRI health facilities,” he said. The fourth approach is the innovation of TB program financing in first-degree health facilities (FKTP). Innovations in the form of providing non-capitation incentives to TB services for FKTP involved include advanced stage diagnosis, treatment, and treatment. This innovation began with a trial in 6 cities with an estimated large TB caseload, namely Medan City, North Jakarta City, Bogor City, Semarang City, Surabaya City, and Denpasar City.
