Heavy Rain Will Hit The Majority Of The Regions In Indonesia

JAKARTA - Heavy rains have the potential to hit the majority of regions in Indonesia today, namely Saturday, February 24. Where, the rain occurred from Aceh to Papua.

Quoting Antara, BMKG stated that areas that have the potential to be hit by heavy rains are Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Bengkulu, Jambi, South Sumatra, Bangka Belitung Islands, Lampung, Banten, Central Java, and DI Yogyakarta.

Heavy rains will also hit East Java, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, Gorontalo, Central Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, North Maluku and Papua.

Of the many areas that have the potential to experience heavy rain, most of these areas are thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and lightning such as Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau, Bengkulu, Jambi, South Sumatra, Bangka Belitung Islands, Lampung, and Banten.

The intensity of this storm rain will also hit West Java, Central Java, DI Yogyakarta, East Java, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, Central Sulawesi, North Maluku and Maluku.

In fact, there are several areas where thunderstorms are accompanied by strong winds, namely Aceh, Bangka Belitung Islands, West Java, DI Yogyakarta, East Java, West Nusa Tenggara, North Kalimantan and Papua.

Not only that, BMKG also reminded to be aware of the impact of tornadoes during the rainy season in most parts of Indonesia which is predicted to last until the end of February 2024.

Deputy for Meteorology Guswanto said that visually tornadoes are a phenomenon of strong winds that rotate resembling trunks and usually can cause damage around the scene.

A tornado is formed from a rainy cloud system or cumulonimbus which has characteristics of causing extreme weather, he said.
