Surya Paloh Supports The Right To Investigate Election Cheating: It's A Shame If It's Ignored

Chairman of the NasDem Party, Surya Paloh, emphasized that the political parties of the Change Coalition consisting of NasDem, PKB, and PKS support the rolling of the right of inquiry to investigate allegations of fraud in the 2024 General Election.

According to Surya, the proposed right of inquiry in parliament is a constitutional right guaranteed by laws and regulations.

This was revealed after holding a meeting with presidential and vice-presidential candidates number 1, namely Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar who are also the General Chair of PKB, as well as PKS General Chair Ahmad Syaikhu.

"I think constitutional rights are the way we want to take. It's a shame if it's ignored. It's a thousand times a shame," said Surya at Wisma Nusantara, Central Jakarta, Friday, February 23.

Surya views that anyone must respect the application for the right of inquiry on allegations of election fraud as constitutional rights if later initiated by PDIP in the DPR RI.

"It's a shame for us, there are constitutional rights initiated by anyone, maybe currently friends from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle, we say they are not good, we say they are lacking, we don't agree. That's the right to democracy," explained Surya.

"Our attitude, in this case, is that supporters of Mas Anies and Cak Imin in the coalition of changes, it is clear that they provide support, provide support. How is the process? Yes, just let it flow naturally," he continued.

Previously, the NasDem Party, PKB, and PKS had stated that they had joined one carriage to issue an inquiry right in the DPR RI to investigate allegations of fraud in the 2024 General Election.

However, the three parties carrying presidential and vice presidential candidates number 1 Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar are waiting for the PDI-P (PDIP) to move as an initiator of the proposal for the right of inquiry.

Bearing in mind, the discourse on the right of inquiry was originally put forward by the presidential candidate number 3, Ganjar Pranowo, which was promoted by PDIP.

"We are intact, the three parties will be with PDIP and we are waiting for PDIP action as the initiator. The one who initiated this is not just anyone, Ganjar, the best cadre, the biggest party presidential candidate in Indonesia. So we take this seriously," said Secretary General of the NasDem Party Hermawi Taslim in NasDem Tower, Cikini, Central Jakarta, Thursday, February 22.

If PDIP needs assistance in the form of supporting data needed in rolling out the rights of inquiry, NasDem, PKB, and PKS, they state that they are ready to help provide the data they have.

"We are preparing ourselves. Earlier our team has prepared data. If there is anything, later we just need supplies. If we need a team, we will send a team too. But we are waiting for the next step," said Hermawi.
