JAKARTA - Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak revealed the plan to place 18 TNI AD units in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan, in line with the plan to build the headquarters of the Kodim, Korem, and several Koramil at IKN.

Maruli emphasized that the Indonesian Army is ready to support activities at IKN, including the plan to commemorate the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia on August 17, 2024.

"We have seen. We have planned, (and) a Kodim (military district commander) has been built. The plan will be to build another Korem (military resort commander), as well as Koramil-coramil (military commander), including 18 units stationed at IKN," said Maruli Simanjuntak, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, February 22.

General Maruli visited several locations in IKN, including Nusantara Zero Point IKN, East Kalimantan, Wednesday (21/2).

During his visit, Maruli was accompanied by several TNI AD officials, local governments in East Kalimantan. Several points visited include the construction sites of the State Palace, IKN Kodim, IKN natural tourism sites, and ports.

The Army Chief of Staff believes that the development of IKN and the relocation of the nation's capital are strategic steps for the government to support equitable development.
