JAYAPURA - Kapendam XVII Cenderawasih Lt. Col. Candra Kurniawan said members of the KKB who shot the Wings Air plane were arrested in the Kali Brasa Dekai area, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Mountains, and another was killed in a shootout. The arrests began with public reports after seeing residents carrying firearms. Based on the report, an investigation was carried out by members of the 7 Marines Infantry Battalion Task Force. "The shootout occurred which killed a KKB member and arrested another person," said Kapendam XVII/Cenderawasih Lt. Col. Inf Chandra Kurniawan in Jayapura, Antara, Thursday, February 22. According to him, marine members also confiscated 74 rounds of ammunition of various caliber and two magazines and other evidence. "KKB members and the bodies of their colleagues and evidence have been handed over to the police for further processing," he said. The Wings Air plane with flight number PK-WGT was shot by the KKB when it was about to land at Nopjad Dekai Airport, Saturday (17/2).

One passenger who sat on the 19A seat was reported injured as a result of being hit by debris, as a result of the shot penetrated into the plane.
