The 'Tornado' Wind In Sumedang-Bandung As A Result Of 534 Damaged Buildings

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of West Java Province noted that 534 buildings were damaged due to the natural disaster of a tornado called BRIN researchers a tornado that occurred in Sumedang Regency and Bandung Regency.

West Java BPBD Youth Expert Public Relations Officer Hadi Rahmat said after officers collected data on the impact of hurricanes in the five sub-districts in the two districts, buildings that suffered minor damage and were heavily damaged reached 534 buildings.

"For the affected areas in Semedang Regency, they are in Jatinangor and Cimanggung sub-districts, while in Bandung Regency there are Rancaek, Cicalengka, and Cileunyi sub-districts," Hadi said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, February 22.

Hadi said that as many as 835 families (KK) in the five sub-districts experienced the impact of this incident and the West Java BPBD together with the Sumedang Regency BPBD and Bandung were still conducting assessments, and helping residents in disaster-affected locations.

From the data in Sumedang Regency, 413 families were affected and 422 families in Bandung Regency. Until now, there are still checking related to the affected mental data," he said.

As many as 33 people were injured due to falling material when strong winds occurred and intensive care had been carried out at the hospital.

"The victim has been rushed to the Cicalengka Regional General Hospital (RSUD) and the Work Health Hospital," he said.

Currently, West Java BPBD is also helping the needs of residents such as providing tarpaulins and other needs for victims affected by the tornado.

"The West Java Province BPBD has provided assistance in the form of 25 tarpaulin sheets, the installation of a tent unit from Battalion 330 and a unit from the Ministry of Social Affairs," he said.
