President Jokowi Scheduled To Inaugurate Lolak Dam In Bolmong, North Sulawesi Lusa

MANADO - President Joko Widodo is scheduled to announce the Lolak Dam in Bolaang Mongondow Regency, North Sulawesi (Sulut) on Friday (23/2).

"It is planned that the Lolak Dam will be inaugurated on Friday this week," said Head of the Sulawesi River Basin Center I, Sugeng Harianto, in Manado, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 21.

He said his team was making preparations related to President Jokowi's arrival which was scheduled to inaugurate the dam which was built in 2015.

"We are (temporary, red) making preparations for the event," he said.

Technically, he said, the second dam in North Sulawesi after the Kuwil Kawangkoan Dam in North Minahasa Regency has a capacity of 16.23 million cubic meters.

In addition, the dam has an inundation area of 101.75 hectares.

"There are a number of benefits that can be enjoyed when the dam is used," said Sugeng.

The 604.5 meter long dam can irrigate 6,950 hectares of rice fields in the largest rice barn in the province with a population of more than 2.6 million people.

In addition, the dam is also capable of providing 500 liters of raw water per second, reducing flooding by 29.42 percent and becoming a 2.43 MegaWatt Mini Hydro Power Plant (PLTMH).

"This dam will also be one of the tourist destinations in North Sulawesi Province," he said.
