Kompolnas Encourages Police To Evaluate Polsek Imbas Escape 16 Tanah Abang Metro Police Detainees

JAKARTA - Member of the National Police Commission (Kompolnas) Poengky Indarti said there was a need for an evaluation of office security at a number of Polsek related to sixteen detainees who escaped from the Tanah Abang Metro Police detention center on Monday 19 February. "We recommend the need for an evaluation of the security of the police station, the need for a thorough examination of the escape of these 16 detainees, as well as evaluating why this happened," he said when confirmed, Wednesday, February 21, was confiscated by Antara. Is the lighting clear? Is the prison guard sufficient? Prisoners with what alleged crimes have escaped? Considering the escape of prisoners can be suspected of endangering the community," he said. Poengky further mentioned that security and supervision of the security of the Tanah Abang Police detention room needed to be further strengthened, especially in the interrogation room and detention room. "The rooms must be made in such a way that suspects/restricts cannot escape. Need a building security check, including the doors of the detention cell, bathroom ceiling, bathroom bars, walls and bathroom floors, as well as ventilation so that they are not easily broken to escape," he said.

Poengky also highlighted that the SOP related to the interrogation of the arrested suspect had been carried out correctly, for example whether the body search of the suspect had been carried out properly. "So that no dangerous items can be used to fight the officers or escape," he said. Previously, the Central Jakarta Metro Police arrested two of the sixteen prisoners who had escaped from the Tanah Abang Metro Police detention center.
