Members Of The South Kalimantan Regional Police Are Strictly Prohibited From Going To Night Entertainment Venues

JAKARTA - The Head of South Kalimantan Regional Police, Inspector General Rikwanto, issued a ban on members of entertainment venues to tighten ownership of firearms (senpi).

This step was taken following the shooting incident at RM Cafe Cengkareng, West Jakarta, which was carried out by unscrupulous members of the Chief Police Brigadier (Bripka) CS, Thursday, January 25, yesterday morning.

"So the incident in Jakarta has become our reference to remind that members are strictly prohibited from going to entertainment venues without any connection with their duties. If they do, get ready for sanctions", said Rikwanto in Banjarmasin as reported by Antara, Friday, February 26.

"This is inappropriate, at present, the pandemic situation is also feared that there will be a spread of COVID-19 in entertainment venues that do not implement health protocols", he said.

The police chief also emphasized that there were no special permits for members of the Police to go to entertainment venues in the context of seeking entertainment. But what is justified is to carry out special investigative duties or missions such as finding criminals and exposing drug trafficking.

Meanwhile, for the use of firearms, Rikwanto emphasized that he would withdraw them from members who were deemed not worthy of owning them so that unnecessary incidents would not occur in the field.

Then about the Enactment of Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) on a micro-scale or PPKM micro set by the local government, according to the Head of Regional Police, it is necessary to monitor and control which places are allowed to open and which are not.

"Because in principle, entertainment venues are closed during PPKM. Even if some open, of course, there will be a recommendation from the Task Force by complying with health protocols that must be controlled continuously in the field", concluded Rikwanto accompanied by Deputy Police Chief Brigadier General Pol Mohamad Agung Budijono.

One of the micro PPKMs was implemented by the City Government of Banjarmasin, the capital of South Kalimantan, which decided to extend the micro PPKM until March 8, 2021.

In this city, there are several entertainment venues such as cafes and karaoke whose managers have implemented strict health protocols and adhere to operating hours according to the PPKM micro policy.
