MUI Invites Dai To Clean Up Pascapemilu Split Residues: Our Task Is To Unite The Ummah

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) invites preachers and lecturers to clean up the residuals of the 2024 post-General Election (Pemilu) divisions through religious pulpits and social media.

"Our job is to concentrate on uniting the people," said MUI Chairman for Da'wah and Ukhuwah Cholil Nafis as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, February 19.

Cholil said the implementation of the 2024 General Election went well and smoothly. However, he regretted that the negative narratives that appeared before the voting were still felt today.

Therefore, to the lecturers and preachers, MUI encourages together with MUI to eliminate residues that can divide the nation.

According to him, the unity of the people and the nation must be the main agenda after this election. While the political aspect is currently underway, he said, let it be processed by those involved in the contestation.

"Our important task is that the peaceful community remains united, can work well without being disturbed," said Cholil Nafis.

He also encouraged preachers to make politics a means of incorporating good ideas in the life of the nation and state, not achieving power.

"Our goal in preaching is solid politics, building a good nation, a just nation, a legal nation, a prosperous one," said Cholil Nafis.

Previously, the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board appreciated all parties, from the government, election organizers, to contestants, and the public for the implementation of the 2024 General Election which was considered to be running well.

"On behalf of PBNU, I would like to congratulate the Indonesian people, especially to the government, election organizers, the contestants that the election process to the vote has been carried out well," said PBNU Chairman KH Yahya Cholil Staquf.

Gus Yahya, KH Yahya Cholil Staquf's nickname, said that PBNU also assessed that the implementation of the 2024 General Election which went well, smoothly, and peacefully was a victory for the Indonesian people.

"Until this point, we conclude that in this process Indonesia has won, because the process is going well, peaceful, smooth, and we can finish it," he said.
