Denying All Allegations Of Fraud, KPU Must Be Willing To Audit IT System

The General Elections Commission (KPU) is advised to open up the proposed audit of the IT system to dismiss allegations of fraud in the 2024 General Election.

UGM's Constitutional Law Lecturer, Herlambang Wiratraman assessed that the KPU's openness for the IT system audit was needed following the rampant discrepancies in voice data recorded in the Voice Recapitulation Information System (Sirekap).

"In this situation, how do we ensure that the 2024 General Election has legitimacy? So the KPU must be open to auditing its IT system. Moreover, the indication is that the safety of the IT KPU itself is weak," he said, Sunday, February 18.

According to him, public suspicion will get bigger if the KPU still closes itself and is reluctant to accept the audit proposal for their IT system. "So hopefully the KPU has a more open initiative. Moreover, the C1 Form can now be accessed and IT security is the key to restoring trust in public spaces," he continued.

Herlambang assessed that the series of irregularities during the 2024 General Election process began with the Constitutional Court's Decision, the DKPP Decision on the Chair and Members of the KPU had an impact on the weak public legitimacy on the implementation of the 2024 General Election.

"And the chaos of Sirekap completes a scenario that could worsen the current electoral democratic process," he said.
