JAKARTA - A member of the Voting Organizing Group (KPPS) in Palangka Raya City, Central Kalimantan died after carrying out his duties at polling stations (TPS) 62 in Evidence Tunggal Village, Jekan Raya District.

Head of the Neighborhood Unit (RT) 11, Rukun Warga (RW) 14 Kelurahan Evidence Tunggal, Gagah Cahyadi in Palangka Raya, Saturday, said the KPPS member who died at the Muhammadiyah Hospital named Ahmad Zaen (53), a resident of Jalan Bondol XVIII, was suspected of having lung disease.

"Indeed, according to the family, the person concerned complained of illness while serving as a member of the KPPS on Wednesday 14 and Thursday 16 February 2024, but was still forced to work," said Gagah Cahyadi as quoted by ANTARA.

He said Ahmad Zaen died today at 02.30 WIB at the Muhammadiyah Palangka Raya Hospital. The person concerned left three children and a wife.

Before he died, Ahmad Zaen was also hospitalized, but only lasted a few days and was finally declared dead by the doctor. Even from laboratory results from the hospital the KPPS member died because there were indications of suffering from lung disease.

"The main factor in question died due to laxness while carrying out his duties as a member of the KPPS," he said.

Ahmad Zaen, after being declared dead by his family, was buried at the Muslim cemetery on Jalan Tjilik Riwut Km 2, Palangka Raya, because the person concerned had the land of Allah in the cemetery complex. After praying d leastur, the body in question was buried.
