US Reminds Putin Not To Interfer In The Presidential Election

JAKARTA - The White House warned Russian President Vladimir Putin not to interfere in the US presidential election which will take place later this year.

This was conveyed in response to Putin's statement that he wanted to see President Joe Biden win again in the election.

"Vladimir Putin certainly understands what we have done to dispel Russia's evil influence around the world, especially against what they are doing in Ukraine," said National Security Council spokesman John Kirby, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, February 16.

He also said the US had repeatedly shown how far it would go to fight what Russia was doing, especially in Ukraine that Russia was attacking.

"Therefore, Mr. Putin, please obey our election," Kirby emphasized.

In an interview with Russian television broadcast Wednesday, Putin said he preferred Joe Biden to win the election over Donald Trump.

Biden, who won the election and became president for his second term, would be better for Russia, Putin said, because Biden was "more predictable".

However, Putin said his party was ready to "work with whoever the US leader is trusted by his people".
