Balangan Police Arrest Perpetrators Of Embezzlement Of Honorary Money KPPS Dozens Of Millions

The Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Balangan Police, South Kalimantan, arrested an honorarium in Batu Piring Village with the initials MH for embezzling money from officials from the local Village Voting Organizing Group (KPPS).

"We arrested the perpetrator in a hotel room in the Tabalong Regency area less than 1 x 24 hours after receiving the report," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Balangan Police, Iptu Galuh Rizka Pangestu, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, February 16.

Galuh said the perpetrators took away money belonging to KPPS officers from Batu Piring Village, South Paringin District as much as Rp115 million for personal purposes.

Of the total Rp115 million, Galuh revealed that the remaining cash held by the perpetrators reached Rp17 million for the honorarium of KPPS officers, Batu Piring Village.

Based on the perpetrator's confession, said the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit, the money was spent by the perpetrator for personal purposes while in Tabalong Regency, including playing online gambling.

Previously, 126 officers from the Batu Piring Village KPPS, South Paringin District, Balangan Regency, South Kalimantan visited the local village office to question the honorarium as an officer for organizing the 2024 General Election.

"Of course we are very disappointed with the delay in this payment, because according to the circular from the Indonesian KPU, our rights were paid no later than on February 15 yesterday," said one member of the KPPS Batu Piring Village Ahmad in Balangan, Friday.

Ahmad said that only the Batu Piring Village KPPS from all KPPS in Balangan Regency had not received honorariums for carrying out state duties in the 2024 General Election.

According to Ahmad, the purpose of the KPPS members came to the Batu Piring Village Office to ask why the honorarium had not been paid.

"We deeply regret this incident, even though we have been desperately for more than 24 hours not to stop working in order to carry out our state duties in the 2024 election and we just need our right to be paid immediately," he said.
