Surabaya Police Reveals Cases Of Maltreatment Of Toddlers To Death

Surabaya Police revealed a case of abuse to death against a 2.5-year-old male toddler with the initials SRH and identified the hospital as a suspect.

Head of the Surabaya Police Criminal Investigation Unit AKBPHendro Sukmono in his statement in Surabaya, Friday, said that the police strongly suspected that the abuse occurred because the police found bruises on the head and back near the bones of the toddler's tail.

"Previously, this toddler was entrusted to his mother's boyfriend's place. Because his parents had separated beds, he lived with his biological father and brother with the initials SZ. However, occasionally the victim is also entrusted to his biological mother with the initials F who lives with a siri husband with the initials RS. The victim was found dead at the biological mother's boarding house and her sir's husband on Jalan Kutisari, "he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, February 16.

Before being found dead on Tuesday (13/2), the victim was entrusted to F by his grandmother. At around 10.00 WIB, F had to work and leave the victim to her husband, Sirya RS.

After returning from work at around 17.00 WIB, the victim's biological mother found her child sleeping with her sir husband.

"After that, the victim's mother tried to wake up her child. However, at that time the victim's condition was weak and was immediately taken to the Jemursari Islamic Hospital (RSI)," explained Hendro.

Arriving at RSI Jemursari, the doctor who examined found that SRH had died. The victim's mother was shocked and informed the victim's older brother.

Receiving the sad news, the victim's older brother and father went straight to the hospital and found bruises on the victim's head and back.

"Out of suspicion, the victim's biological father reported to the Surabaya Police. After the report, we conducted an autopsy on the victim to determine the cause of death," said Hendro.

Based on the results of the post-mortem, the victim's body was pale in the membranes of the lower upper temple, lips, end of the nail finger, all members of the movement and bruises on the head, forehead, cheeks, neck, chest, stomach, back and waist.

"In addition, there is bleeding in the brain and abdomen. The cause is definitely still waiting for the results of further examinations of several samples of organs and stomach as well," he added.

As a result of his actions, the suspect RS was charged with Article 80 Paragraph (3) in conjunction with Article 76 C of Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Amendments to Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection and or Article 338 of the Criminal Code and or Article 340 of the Criminal Code.

"The maximum penalty is 20 years or life imprisonment," said Hendro.
