KPU Delays Voice Counting Of Post And KSK Methods In Kuala Lumpur

Chairman of the Indonesian General Elections Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy'ari said the vote count of the mobile post method and ballot boxes (KSK) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia was postponed.

The postponement was due to several problems in the implementation of the 2024 election vote.

"For the two methods to be stopped first, it is not included because there are findings that actually the KPU itself already knows that there is a procedural situation that is unprocedural," said Hasyim at the Indonesian KPU Office, Jakarta, Thursday, February 15, which was confiscated by Antara.

He revealed that the vote count in Kuala Lumpur should have started on February 14-15, 2024. Meanwhile, the post method starts from February 15-22, 2024.

However, the current vote count is only for the TPSLN method. "The method of post and mobile ballot boxes is stopped first," he added.

Hasyim assessed that there was synchronization between the findings of Bawaslu and the KPU in the election process in Kuala Lumpur. Therefore, the method of post and KSK has the potential to be re-voted.

"So that later the situation has potential for postal methods and special KSK methods in Kuala Lumpur will be re-voted. Our details and mechanisms at the Central KPU are of course coordinating with Bawaslu," concluded Hasyim.

Previously, Wednesday, February 14, the Overseas Election Supervisory Committee (Panwaslu) Kuala Lumpur stated that the Kuala Lumpur Foreign Election Committee (PPLN) was proven to have committed administrative violations of the election and recommended re-voting the KSK and Pos systems.

Chairman of Pawaslu LN Kuala Lumpur Rizky Al-Farizie in Kuala Lumpur, Wednesday, said he had conducted a search related to several issues that were broadly related to voting with the method of postal and KSK.

Regarding the alleged election violation, he said Panwaslu would then recommend PPLN Kuala Lumpur to, first, not calculate the voting results by postal methods throughout the Kuala Lumpur area. Second, do not calculate the voting results using the KSK method.

Third, carry out re-voting using the method of postal and KSK. Fourth, the implementation of the re-voting as referred to is preceded by the implementation of updating the voter list for postal and KSK methods.

Fifth, do not determine all voters who have voted at the Kuala Lumpur polling station as voters in the re-voting using the postal and KSK methods. Sixth, evaluate the postal method by selecting other methods to avoid the same error or incident.
