PDIP Welcomes Megawati And Surya Paloh Meeting

The PDI-P welcomes the plan for a meeting between the General Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri and the General Chairperson of NasDem Surya Paloh.

PDIP DPP chairman Said Abdullah explained that PDIP and Nasdem have a nationalist character, so that the second generation of cooperation can be applied easily.

"Moreover, Mrs. Mega and Pak Surya are old friends, they have both guarded President Jokowi's government so far, including not hesitate to convey advice on the government's path if irregularities are found," Said said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, February 15.

He believes that PDIP and NasDem have good intentions to maintain Indonesian democracy. Therefore, Said could not be if PDIP and NasDem were destined to go hand in hand inside or outside the government.

"We must maintain democracy, the price is very expensive. We don't want reform to sink after running for 25 years," he said.

According to him, PDIP has the spirit to keep democracy upright, not just words without meaning. However, the practice of substantive democracy is going on as a matter of fact.

"The role of parties such as the PDI-P, NasDem, and all parties have a responsibility to maintain democracy," said Said.

Said assessed that one of the right frameworks for laying the basis for the collaboration between PDIP and NasDem was to answer public anger over recent problems. PDIP also invited all other democratic elements to join.
