The Voting Time For TPS Is Late To Open Due To Floods Can Pass 13.00, As Long As The Duration Is 6 Hours

Chairman of the General Elections Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy'ari said the duration of voting time at the polling station (TPS) could pass what had been set, which was more than 13.00 WIB.

This responds to the large number of polling stations being flooded in various areas, especially Jakarta and its surroundings, resulting in late opening of the polling station after 07.00. However, Hasyim emphasized that the voting process must not exceed the duration of 6 hours.

"As a result, TPS is open at 07.00-13.00. So we can use the provisions regarding the duration of 6 hours. If the TPS is opened at 09.00, then the duration of the next 6 hours is 09.00-15.00," Hasyim told reporters, Wednesday, February 14.

The delay in the start of the voting process also applies in conditions that are constrained apart from flooding. Groups of voting organizers (KPPS) who are late in opening polling stations are required to make special notes in the minutes.

"Services (voting) are carried out as long as the voice is still available," said Hasyim.

Rain with very heavy to extreme intensity had hit Jakarta and its surroundings from early Wednesday morning until the morning. This caused a number of areas to be affected by flooding.

As of Wednesday at 10.00 WIB, the DKI Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) recorded floods inundating 13 RT and 42 roads in the DKI Jakarta area. This incident occurred in conjunction with the vote in the 2024 election.

Of the total 30,766 polling stations, the DKI BPBD recorded a total of 70 polling stations affected by flooding. This resulted in the TPS having to move locations or keep voting in flooded areas, so that the opening of the TPS was late.

3. East Jakarta: 3 TPS in Cakung Timur Village

4. Central Jakarta: 3 TPS in Gunung Sahari Utara Village

5. South Jakarta: 6 TPS in Kuningan Barat Village
