PAPUA SELATAN - The General Election Commission (KPU) of South Papua conducted a vote counting process in four local provinces to use the online recapitulation information system (Sirekap) application and an offline method.

"We will use online and offline vote counting methods," said Chairman of the KPU South Papua Province Theresia Mahuze in Asmat Regency, Tuesday, February 13.

Theresia said that so far not all areas in the four districts of South Papua Province are supported by adequate internet networks. Several villages (villages), even districts, have not been touched by internet access.

So, he said, the use of the Sirekap application will only be used in places that are already supported by adequate internet networks.

"For areas that have an internet network, of course, they will use Sirekap and the results can be sent directly to the Central KPU server," he said.

Meanwhile, Asmat Regency KPU chairman Aloysia Hahare said that in general internet networks often have problems during the day or working hours.

Therefore, he said, the local KPU was quite worried that this condition could disrupt the recapitulation process, especially during the use of the KPU's Sirekap application.

"If the Sirekap application cannot be used because it is disrupted by the internet network, the KPU will decide on a manual calculation," he said.

Previously, KPU member Idham Holik said Sirekap could work in two conditions, namely there is an internet network and without an internet network or blank spot.

"Then the file is in pdf format, the results of writing the minutes will be shared via bluetooth technology," he said.
