Cianjur Police Narcotics Head AKP Septian Pratama said the arrest of foreigners who were registered as refugees who lived in shelters in the Cisarua-Bogor area, was based on reports from residents who were suspicious of their movements.

"The perpetrator was arrested in front of a villa in Puncak, precisely in Ciloto Village, Cipanas District, when he was about to transact marijuana in large quantities from the dealer who managed to escape," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, February 12.

The police are still hunting for a large marijuana supply dealer to foreigners whose identities are already known, from the hands of the suspect, officers managed to secure a package of marijuana weighing 20 grams which was purchased at a price of Rp800 thousand.

The police are still investigating and developing the case because the suspect admitted to buying the illicit goods for his own consumption from a dealer who is a foreigner who also fills refugee camps outside the Bogor area.

"Currently, foreigners from Afghanistan are still undergoing examination and being accompanied by refugee protection agencies," he said.

Suspect AH was charged with Article 111 paragraph 1 and Article 114 paragraph 1 of the Republic of Indonesia Law number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with the threat of imprisonment for 15 years.

"We will investigate the case, in order to arrest a large dealer who supplies marijuana to foreigners who live in a number of refugee camps in the jurisdiction of the West Java Police," he said.

The perpetrator, AH, a refugee from Afghanistan, admitted that he had consumed marijuana since the last year he was obtained from a fellow foreigners dealer who managed to escape when he was about to be arrested by the police.

"For 12 years I have been a resident of a refugee camp in Cisarua-Bogor, I am depressed because I have lived in Indonesia for a long time and tried smoking marijuana to forget about life problems, I bought marijuana to use it myself," he said.
