Beware Of Positive Case 27 Of COVID-19

JAKARTA - The government announced 8 new cases of the spread of the corona virus or COVID-19 in Indonesia. With this, a total of 27 cases of the spread of the virus originated in the city of Wuhan, China.

The process of contracting case number 27, a man aged 33, is considered mysterious. This is because he has never traveled abroad or had contact with a known corona patient. Allegations arise, there are other people who have been exposed to this virus but their whereabouts are not yet known by health authorities.

"For case 27, we cannot link it to existing positive cases. This is a challenge for the team to find tracing," Yuri told reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Wednesday, March 11.

Yuri explained the area of origin of the patient. He reasoned that the area of origin of the patient had no connection with the spread of the disease. "It moves, this virus (moves) based on the movement of people," he said.

In the spread of the COVID-19 virus, local transmitted cases like this have also occurred in several countries, one of which is the Philippines.

The team from the Philippine health authorities who carried out the tracing contact also has not received confirmation about how this man contracted COVID-19.

Reflecting on cases like this, a researcher in the field of microbiology from the Center for Biological Research (LIPI) Sugiyono Saputra assessed that the government must immediately find anyone related to the patient in case number 27, including with whom he made close contact.

Because the slower the government makes tracing contact, it can lead to a bigger pandemic. "If a lot of community spreads have occurred, the possibility of a pandemic will get bigger," Sugiyono told VOI via text message, Wednesday, March 11.

Regarding transmission, said Sugiyono, it could occur because of various activities carried out by the patient and it could be that the person suspected of spreading the patient in case number 27 did not realize that he had contracted COVID-19.

"The possibility is that the virus could be transmitted unconsciously from an infected person or it could be that the virus is already in the community or around us. Moreover, in several countries such cases have occurred," he said.

Even though there was a local transmitted that occurred in case 27, the government has asked the public not to panic.

Spokesperson for COVID-19 Achmad Yurianto actually reminded the public to continue to adopt a clean and healthy lifestyle, such as diligently washing their hands with soap and running water.

In addition to living a healthy life, he also appealed to anyone who is sick with coughs or colds to use a mask.

"We urge everyone, whether they are people under monitoring or not ODP, if they have coughs, colds, and so on, wear a mask. That's the key, so that when they cough, sneeze, the virus in their body, whatever it is, whether it's the corona virus. or else not scattered. "
