KPU Affirms Responsibility Campaign Attributes For Election Participants

The General Election Commission (KPU) emphasized that the cleaning of campaign props or APKs in public spaces is the responsibility of each participant in the 2024 General Election.

Chairman of the East Java Provincial KPU (Jaktim) Choirul Anam explained that the 2024 election stage starting this Sunday at 00.01 WIB has entered a period of calm.

"During the quiet period, election participants are prohibited from campaigning in any form. That is to give voters the opportunity to reflect on who will be elected," he said when confirmed in Surabaya, Sunday, February 11, as reported by Antara.

During the calm period of the election which lasted 11 to 13 February 2024, the APK which during the campaign period was established in public spaces had to be cleaned up.

"Cleaning the APK during calm times is actually the responsibility of the election participants, but we as election organizers are obliged to coordinate cleaning," said Anam.

So it is appropriate to enter February 11, 2024, since 00.01 this morning, the East Java KPU together with the General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) and relevant stakeholders, including the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) in the local province, immediately moved to clean up the APK from the public sphere.

It appears that the cleaning of the APK by the organizers of the East Java Election in the Surabaya City area which took place in the early hours of Sunday was also attended by a number of representatives of political parties participating in the election.

Choirul Anam ensured that the coordination of cleaning the APB with the stakeholders took place simultaneously in districts/cities, sub-districts, to sub-districts and villages in the East Jakarta Province.

According to him, there are no sanctions for election participants who do not clean the APK from the public sphere during the quiet period.

Election participants whose APK is cleaned by officers can take it at the local Bawaslu Office or Satpol PP.

The target is that public spaces must be clean from the APK before voting day on February 14, 2024.

"So, the APK does not have to be clean from public spaces today. It can be until tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. The target is that when the election takes place on February 14, 2024, it must be completely clean from the APK," he said.
