Jokowi Doesn't Care About Campaigning Until The End, Ganjar: Thank You For Not Taking That Opportunity

Presidential Candidate number three, Ganjar Pranowo thanked President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) for holding the last People's Celebration at Simpang Lima Semarang, Central Java. This is because the head of state did not come down to campaign for one of the candidate pairs.

"Thank you Pak Jokowi because until the last point he did not take that opportunity," Ganjar told reporters at the location, Saturday, February 10.

On that occasion, Ganjar also thanked the civil society group. He said they had voiced the importance of neutrality in the 2024 presidential election.

"It means we can still listen," he said.

As previously reported, President Jokowi was in the spotlight for saying that the head of state could take sides and campaign for one of the pairs of candidates in the presidential election.

This was then responded to by many parties because President Jokowi was considered to be taking sides with pair number two, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka. This is because the Mayor of Solo is his eldest son.

However, President Jokowi later emphasized that he would not campaign. He made this statement when it was rumored that he would go down on February 10 to support Prabowo-Gibran.

"Who said that?" Jokowi said in a press conference broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube some time ago.

Jokowi emphasized that the president may campaign and there are rules in the law. "But if the question is whether I will campaign, I will say no. I will not campaign," he concluded.
