JAKARTA - Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan claims his political party, namely Pakistan Tereek-e-Insaf (PTI) has won the general election in the country.

In a statement made with the help of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, Khan praised the high number of voters and highlighted the people's rejection of the government as reflected in the big victory for PTI in the election.

"We have won more than 170 seats in the National Assembly," Khan quoted Antara as saying.

With Khan already in prison since last August, his supporters are using AI technology to produce Khan's voice copy in the video released on his social media account.

He encouraged the people to celebrate and express gratitude for this great victory.

He also said that after two years of oppression and injustice, PTI finally won the general election with a large majority.

Meanwhile, Shehbaz Sharif, who served as prime minister, replaced Khan from April 2022 to August 2023, called for the unity government to be formed and invited other political parties to join.

Hundreds of millions of Pakistani voters exercise their voting rights on Thursday (8/2) to elect members of the state-level National Assembly and parliament. The vote count is still ongoing today.

From the votes calculated, independent candidates affiliated with PTI led the acquisition by winning at least 95 seats, followed by the Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N) led by Shehbaz Sharif with 66 seats, and the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) with 51 seats.
