Anies Campaign In Tulungagung, Promises Progress For Mataraman Region

JAKARTA - The open campaign for presidential candidate number 01, Anies Rasyid Baswedan in Tulungagung Regency, East Java, was attended by thousands of residents from various regions in the former Mataraman area, starting from Tulungagung, Blitar, Kediri, Nganjuk, Trenggalek to Pacitan and Ponorogo.

The crowd had begun to be seen arriving in the early hours of the morning at the Lembupeteng Sports Center, Tulungagung City, which became the campaign venue entitled "Anies Sapa Mataraman".

Anies, who arrived at the campaign location, was accompanied by dozens of well-known clerics and caretakers of Islamic boarding schools, including Ponpes Lirboyo, Ploso Kediri Islamic Boarding School and Ngunut Islamic Boarding School, Tulungagung.

"This is a tremendous support. Because Ploso and Lirboyo have consistently supported us, both directly reaching the community and through prayers," Anies said at the end of his political oration as reported by ANTARA, Friday, February 9.

The former governor of DKI Jakarta invited the kiai, religious leaders/community figures and legislative candidates in the Mataraman electoral district to stand on stage to jointly greet the supporters and sympathizers who were present at the Lembupeteng Sports Hall that day.

Anies is the only presidential candidate to campaign directly in Tulungagung Regency. He also said that Tulungagung was deliberately chosen because of the location that could be reached by all its supporters in the former Mataraman area.

In addition, his arrival is a form of Anies' commitment to the southern region of East Java, because so far the area has often been missed in various kinds of development programs, resulting in disparities between the southern region and other areas in Java.

"South is important, often this southern region is missed, in the development it is missed during the missed visit, in the campaign I missed, I went to all of Tulungagung I came, Ponorogo came Pacitan to come Trenggalek, Madiun came," he said.

He also reiterated AMIN's commitment to accelerate the development of the southern region of East Java, including the former Mataraman residential area. Pikanya wants the southern region to have rapid and equivalent progress to other areas in Java.

"We care about the southern region and we want the southern region to not be less advanced than the northern and eastern regions in East Java. We can't because it's far from the provincial capital, it's far behind the main routes, behind trading. We want this southern region to progress," he said.
