TUBAN - Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Kaesang Pangarep said that removing farmer cards is one of the aspirations most shared by the public to PSI, especially throughout the 2024 election campaign.

"Yesterday, one of the things I felt was that there were a lot of people everywhere (community conveyed), especially in Central Java, yes, those who asked for farmer cards to be removed. That's one of them," Kaesang told reporters after attending PSI's grand campaign at Lokajaya Stadium, Tuban, East Java, reported by ANTARA, Friday, February 9.

He conveyed this in response to journalists' questions about the things that the public most often conveyed to PSI while they were campaigning.

Kaesang explained that the community, especially those who work as farmers, want the farmer card policy to be removed because they feel that the existence of the card makes it difficult for farmers to get subsidized fertilizers

The farmer card is a card specifically designed by the government to allocate subsidized fertilizer to farmers. The farmer card program first took effect on the island of Java in 2018.

This issue is also one of the problems highlighted by Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming, the presidential and vice presidential candidate pair number two supported by PSI to win the 2024 presidential election.

Guaranteeing the availability of direct fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides to farmers is one of the priority programs that Prabowo-Gibran will run if they win the 2024 presidential election.

The deletion of farmer cards, as conveyed by the Secretary-General of the Gerindra Party DPP Ahmad Muzani in the Prabowo-Gibran grand campaign in Brebes Regency and Tegal Regency, Thursday (8/2), is a solution to the problem of scarcity of subsidized fertilizers in Indonesia.
