The Reason Why Ganjar Quoted Jokowi's Statement On Human Rights Violations: In Order Not To Be Short Of Memory, Don't Be Amnesia

JAKARTA - Presidential Candidate number three, Ganjar Pranowo said that he deliberately quoted President Joko Widodo (Jokowi)'s statement about not choosing a dictatorial leader to remind the public. He felt the need to do so because what was conveyed was in accordance with the facts and digital traces were circulating.

It is known, Ganjar during the fifth or last debate said that he did not choose a dictatorial leader and had a track record of violating human rights.

What he said was a statement by President Jokowi during a similar debate in 2019 when he was the incumbent presidential candidate against Prabowo Subianto who ran with Sandiaga Uno.

"That's what Pak Jokowi said, yes (close statement during the debate, ed). I actually just quoted it. I mean this, (I quote, ed) so that we don't have short memory. We should not forget, don't have amnesia, and there are facts, there are digital traces," said Ganjar while speaking on the podcast of former KPK Chairman Abraham Samad, Speak Up, quoted Friday, February 9.

Ganjar felt the need to remind again about this statement because people should act according to their words and thoughts.

"In our village language, yes, don't go home, tempeh in the afternoon (soybean morning, tempeh afternoon). What is the night, sir? Tempe bosok (rotting)," he said.

"Don't let it be like that. I just remind you and I quote that once, one time President Joko Widodo in the 2019 presidential candidate debate highlighted the importance of avoiding potential leaders who have a track record of human rights violations, authoritarians, violence or corruption," continued the former Governor of Central Java.

Instead of choosing a presidential candidate as mentioned above, Ganjar hopes that the community will do the opposite on February 14 or during the voting. "It is better to choose a leader who has integrity, commitment to democracy," he concluded.
