Riau Islands KPU Opens Voice About Men's CCTV Video Rampage In Batam Election Logistics Warehouse

JAKARTA - A viral CCTV video showing the Chairman of the Batam City KPU kicking the table and scolding officers at the election logistics warehouse. This prompted the General Election Commission (KPU) of Riau Islands Province to provide clarification regarding this matter.

Chairman of the Riau Islands Provincial KPU, Indrawan Susilo Prabowoadi, said there were no serious problems, but only dynamics that usually occur in the work environment.

"Today we are here to sit together with members of the Batam City KPU in order to strengthen our hearts that there are no serious problems between us," said Indrawan quoting Antara.

According to him, it is more about work issues and all of them have the same spirit that the 2024 General Election in Batam will run well and successfully.

"KPU members and secretariats are in a solid position, unlike the one shown in the video," he said.

Indrawan said that the clarification was also a form of guidance to the ranks of the Batam City KPU so that his party could find out the chronology that actually happened.

"It happened about 3 days or 4 days ago. There is no serious problem like in the video because everything has been resolved and discussed," he said.

Indrawan revealed that the actions involved in the CCTV video were spontaneous due to fatigue.

"Batam has a 60 percent burden for Riau Islands, both voters, logistics, and organizers. Spontaneity like that is understandable," he said.

Nevertheless, his party made the incident a valuable lesson for all ranks of the KPU. This is because all problems must be resolved internally.

Previously, a short video was spread showing a man suspected of being the head of the Batam Mawardi KPU kicking the table and scolding officers at the local KPU logistics warehouse.

In the 45-second video, it shows a man wearing a black vest visiting one of the rooms in the Batam City KPU logistics warehouse, then kicking the table in front of him and turning over another table next to him.

In addition, he also approached and pointed at workers who were smiling ballots, then the man walked away from the room.
