PMI Cancer From South Korea Arrives In Soetta, BP2MI Welcomes His Return To Demak

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Agency (BP2MI) received the repatriation of an Indonesian migrant worker (PMI) who was diagnosed with metastatic cancer from South Korea (South Korea).

BP2MI's Main Secretary Rinaldi said that his party would immediately facilitate the return of the person concerned to his hometown.

"Alhamdulillah, today at 16.00 WIB, PMI has received arrival from South Korea. And we immediately facilitate this PMI to his hometown in Demak," he said in Tangerang, Wednesday, February 7, which was confiscated by Antara.

The PMI, named Edi Bambang Tetuko (23), a resident of Demak, Central Java (Central Java), was repatriated via Garuda Indonesia airline on the South Korean-Jakarta route. He arrived at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Soetta), Tangerang, Banten on Wednesday 7 February at 16.00 WIB.

He said the reason for the repatriation of migrant workers from Central Java was after it was discovered that they had internal cancer. Thus, the company where he works was forced to return him for recovery.

"This PMI actually has a long working period in Korea, namely until 2025. But then in December he fell ill, when he was examined using a ct scan it was known to be cancer," he said.

He revealed that the company in South Korea could not guarantee the handling and care for PMI.

Because, he said, in this case PMI was not included in the insurance for accidents while working. But only have a history of congenital diseases.

"The company advises PMI to return to Indonesia, but companies in Korea are also fair, they give leave time until the end of December 2024," he said.

He admitted that with this matter, BP2MI will evaluate the recruitment system for prospective Indonesian migrant workers, especially in checking and checking their health condition strictly.

"So later we will fix it and discuss it with the Ministry of Health regarding the process of examining the health conditions of PMIs," he concluded.
