JAKARTA - Head of the Immigration Division (Kadiv) of the Regional Office (Kanwil) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) DKI Jakarta Sandi Andaryadi anticipates the potential violations committed by Foreign Citizens (WNA) during the 2024 General Election.

"This is what made us hold a meeting of the Foreigner Supervisory Team (Timpora) in North Jakarta," said Sandi Andaryadi after the Timpora Meeting in Jakarta, Wednesday, February 7, was confiscated by Antara.

Sandi gave an example of foreigners who are involved in politics such as participating in campaigns or foreigners who are included in the 2024 Election Fixed Voters List (DPT).

"If they are registered, of course they can have the right to vote and of course they can't," he added.

Sandi also gave an example of potential violations from foreigners who participate in campaigns or speeches during elections. This is also not allowed because the KPU Regulation states that political activities can only be carried out by Indonesian citizens.

"If they participate in a campaign or political oration, it violates and takes action," he said.

According to Sandi, his party will carry out the handling according to the rules if there are findings of cases in the field. He also encouraged coordination with various parties for a conducive situation ahead of the peak of the 2024 General Election.

"This coordination is trying to be built together so that the situation ahead of this election can run conducive," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Class I TPI Immigration Office in North Jakarta, Qriz Pratama, said the Timpora meeting was held to strengthen coordination with policy makers if there were violations committed by foreigners during the voting period.

"Everything is possible and of course we need to anticipate together," he said.

Qriz said that until February 1, 2024 in the North Jakarta area, there were 8,870 foreigners holding limited stay permits.

Furthermore, there are 1,881 foreign nationals holding permanent residence permits and 468 resident residence permits.

"We invite all parties to be involved together in conducting surveillance and if there are findings in the field, we can coordinate with us," said Qriz.
