Truck Collision At Bakauheni Port, 1 Person Dies

BANDAR LAMPUNG - One person died and four other people suffered serious injuries due to a series of accidents on the Sumatra highway, precisely before the entrance to Bakauheni Port, South Lampung Regency.

The successive collision was caused by a Fuso truck that drove from Bandarlampung to the entrance to Bakauheni Port, which allegedly failed brakes, crashing into three trucks and a motorbike.

One of the eyewitnesses to local resident Rasid Ridho, said that he had clearly seen a Fuso truck driving very fast and crashing into a vehicle in front of him.

"Suddenly from the top, it was seen that this Fuso car was speeding like a failed brake, then it hit a Fuso car in front of it which was parked," said Rasid, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 7.

Chronology of the accident began on Tuesday night at around 23.00 WIB when the Fuso truck with police number BE 8388 BG from Bandarlampung to Bakauheni Port.

The truck driver was unable to control the speed of the vehicle that caused the truck to crash into three other trucks with police numbers BE 8799 DI, BK 8781 XE, and B 9273 SCG. In addition, the truck also crashed into a motorcycle with police number BE 2160 EB which was parked on the shoulder of the road.

The successive collision, which involved three large trucks and a Colt Diesel truck, left one person dead, while the other three were seriously injured and one was slightly injured.

The victim died on behalf of Yuswono (45), while the injured victims were Sigit (38), Andi (41), Hasibuan (50), and Ridwan (52).

Then Kasatlantas Polres Lampung Selatan AKP R Manggala Agungsri Mahardjo also confirmed the accident. Until now, his party is still investigating the incident.

"What is certain is that the successive accident is already under the handling of the authorities," he said.
