JAKARTA - Jalan Otista Raya heading to Dewi Sartika Street, East Jakarta, was badly damaged due to the eroded puddles of rain that hit the area. Moreover, the heavy rain that flushed Jakarta also caused the asphalt on the road to be eroded.

The damaged condition of this road segment is very dangerous for vehicle drivers, especially two-wheeled vehicles. The road has been damaged since a few weeks ago. However, it has not been repaired by the East Jakarta Bina Marga (BM) Sub-dept.

The damage can be seen from the large number of road holes that are very dangerous for vehicle drivers, especially two wheels when it rains. Road holes covered by puddles will appear vague when the vehicle passes.

However, when a motorized vehicle wheel crosses the damaged road hole, the speed of the motorbike will automatically experience 'out of control' or swayed so that it can cause traffic accidents.

Even the damage to potholes on Jalan Otista Rata towards Dewi Sartika Street is 10 cm deep with a diameter of up to 100 cm wide.

"The damaged road is quite wide, about 1 meter wide and that is from the direction of Kampung Melayu to Jalan Dewi Sartika," complained Tariza, a motorcyclist to reporters, Wednesday, February 7.

Not only holes, road materials such as gravel are also scattered on the road and are very dangerous for motorists. Especially two-wheeled riders.

"There are three holes with a good depth. If you pass there, it's always slow, because it's very dangerous, afraid no one will see it breaking through. Because the hole is flooded due to being eroded by rainwater," said the man who left for work.

The damage to Jalan Otista Raya which leads to Dewi Sartika Street has been happening since last week. There has been no repair of the damaged asphalt patch from the East Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-Department regarding asphalt damage on the road.

Drivers hope that the relevant agencies will immediately repair before causing casualties due to accidents due to damaged roads.

"There is already a budget at the Bina Marga Office, please fix it, the leadership goes to the field, not just in the office. Monitor after it rains, which roads are damaged in East Jakarta. Let the community also be safe and comfortable," he concluded.
