PDIP Calls DKPP Decision Shows Election Manipulation Occurs From The Beginning

JAKARTA - The Election Organizers Honorary Council (DKPP) stated that the Chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy'ari and several of his members violated the Election Organizer Code of Ethics (KEPP). PDI-P (PDIP) Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto responded by stating that it had shown manipulation from the start. "Because ethical violations are very serious. And this shows that this election from the start when there was manipulation at the Constitutional Court has become a burden for future elections," said Hasto to reporters from the PDIP DPP, Jakarta, Monday, February 5. Then, Hasto talked about the number two vice presidential candidate (cawapres) who still has a direct relationship with President Joko Widodo or Jokowi. According to him, it causes many serious problems. "So in practice there are so many problems. And the decision from the DKPP becomes legality and legitimacy that the determination of candidate pair 02 does have a serious problem," he said. Hasto also requested that the DKPP decision serve as a reminder to the KPU and Bawaslu to carry out their duties properly. In fact, he had mentioned the trust or local wisdom in a number of areas in the form of karma if it was fraudulent or otherwise. "If the people's voices are manipulated, it is in the beliefs of the Javanese people, including Bali, or even in Lampung, in several parts of Indonesia, the manipulation of people's voices has very broad implications, it can have 7 derivatives of the impact," he said. Election organizers must act fairly, independently, and honestly. However, it is undeniable that there is a lot of pressure to be faced. "This is energy, don't be afraid when the KPU-Bawaslu faces pressure, then get various consequences, the people will defend. On the other hand, when they are subject to interventions, then both legally, ethically and in social institutions, we have local wisdom that is believed by the people that these actions are very dangerous," said Hasto.

Meanwhile, DKPP decided that KPU chairman Hasyim Asy'ari violated KEPP. The decision was the aftermath of Gibran Rakabuming Raka's registration as a candidate for vice president with Prabowo Subianto on October 25, 2023.
