BEKASI - Presidential Candidate number three, Ganjar Pranowo said politicization and corruption of social assistance (bansos) cannot be justified. Both of these things must be dealt with firmly without exception because they are detrimental. This was conveyed by Ganjar in response to the Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Kaesang Pangarep who said that social assistance corruption during the pandemic was more problematic than the politicization that was widely voiced. "Yes, both of them are brushed off. Don't be corrupt and don't politicize like that, you know," said Ganjar to reporters in Bekasi, West Java, Monday, February 5. He also felt insinuated by Kaesang's statement. The reason is that the perpetrators who committed social assistance corruption have been punished. It is known, in 2020 or during the COVID-19 pandemic there was social assistance corruption involving one of the PDIP cadres, namely Juliari Batubara who served as Minister of Social Affairs. "Oh no, I don't feel insinuated. If any of us are corrupt, tied up! Don't care about us," said the former Governor of Central Java. Previously reported, Kaesang mentioned the provision of social assistance which he considered corrupt during the last pandemic. This was conveyed by the youngest son of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) after participating in the fifth debate of the 2024 presidential election on Sunday night, February 4. "I think social assistance must be right on target. But back again, and the social assistance must be on time," said Kaesang after attending the fifth presidential election debate at JCC, Senayan, Jakarta.

"Maybe at this time (the distribution of social assistance) is a problem. But I think it is much more problematic if the social assistance during the COVID-19 (pandemic) is corrupted," he said.
