Riau Police Secure 7 Kilograms Of Methamphetamine And 999 Ecstasy Pills

The Riau Police's Narcotics and Drug Investigation Directorate secured 7 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 999 ecstasy pills from six suspects arrested in Pekanbaru and Dumai cities.

Director of the Narcotics Directorate of the Riau Police, Kombes Manang Soebeti, explained that this network has repeatedly sent illicit goods to Jakarta. The suspects with the initials Z (46), A (44), DH (40), J (41), IA (33) and D (41) had different roles and were arrested on Friday (2/1).

"They have made deliveries to Jakarta five times. A total of 25 kilograms had entered Jakarta," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, December 5.

Kombes Manang said the mode was to store methamphetamine-type drugs into a mini refrigerator. Then packaged as if it was like a package to be sent to Jakarta.

Meanwhile, the ecstasy pills, which amount to almost a thousand pills, are planned to be sent to Kalimantan Island. "What we confiscated are the remaining evidence sent," he said.

This illicit item, said Manang, allegedly came from abroad and entered Riau waters. The suspects are believed to be suppliers in Pekanbaru before being sent to Jakarta.

"The perpetrator admitted that he received wages between Rp. 10 million and Rp. 30 million for one shipment," he continued.

After a series of developments, the police finally sniffed out the presence of the cukong of the owner of the methamphetamine in Dumai City with the initials D.

"We confiscated evidence of the delivery of methamphetamine smuggled in the refrigerator. The methamphetamine was sent via an expedition service," added Kombes Manang.

As a result of their actions, the perpetrators were charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 112 Paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 Paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 Year 2009 concerning narcotics with the threat of death penalty, life imprisonment, or imprisonment for a minimum of 6 years and a maximum of 20 years.
