Police Thwart Smuggling Of 5 Kilograms Of Methamphetamine In Jakarta's Refrigerator

The Riau Police Sub-Directorate I Team of the Narcotics Directorate (Ditresnarkoba) and the Pekanbaru Police Narcotics Unit thwarted the smuggling of methamphetamine and ecstasy. In this operation, the police arrested six suspects along with evidence of 7.1 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 999 pills of ecstasy.

The methamphetamine was smuggled with a new mode hidden in the refrigerator and sent via an expedition service to Jakarta.

The disclosure of this case began with the arrest of two couriers of methamphetamine at Sultan Syarif Kasim Airport SSK II Pekanbaru. Shabu-shabu was smuggled in the groin of the perpetrator who was about to fly to Jakarta.

The Director of Drug Investigation (Dirresnarkoba) of the Riau Police, Kombes Manang Soebekti, explained that the six suspects were arrested in four different locations. Of the six suspects, three of them are residents of Pekanbaru City, namely the initials Z (46 years), A (44), DH (40).

Meanwhile, two suspects are Jakarta residents, namely J (42), IA (33) and one resident of Dumai City with the initials D (41).

"They supply for Pekanbaru City and Jakarta. Of the six suspects, their roles are different, there are couriers, suppliers, dealers, and controllers. Of the six suspects, 7 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 999 pills of ecstasy were confiscated," said Kombes Manang Soebekti, Monday, February 5.

The perpetrators were charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 112 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics. "The suspect is threatened with the death penalty, life imprisonment, or imprisonment for a minimum of 6 years and a maximum of 20 years," he concluded.
