Tarakan Prosecutor's Office Arrests 6-Year-Old Animal Quarantine Convict

TARAKAN - The District Attorney (Kejari) of Tarakan City, North Kalimantan (Kaltara) arrested a convicted animal quarantine case, Ramadan alias Dani, who has been on the run for 6 years.

Head of the Tarakan Kejari Intelligence Section, Harismand, revealed that Dani was arrested by his staff together with the Tarakan Police Satreskrim Resmob Unit.

"This convict (Dani) was secured at one of the shops on Jalan Yos Sudarso, Sebengkok Village and immediately executed at Tarakan Class II-A Prison," said Harismand, Friday, February 2.

Terpidana Dani masuk DPO setelah dilepaskan demi hukum pada tahun 2018 lalu. Sebab, saat itu putusan belum inkrah dan masa penahannya sudah terhabis.

"That's why for the sake of law, Dani was released at that time," said Harismand.

The Supreme Court then issued Decision Number: 1050K/Pid.Sus/2018 Sus/2018 and Order for Implementation of Court Decisions (P-48) Number: Print 11/Pid.Sus/2018/PN.Tar dated February 7, 2018 which stated that Ramadan alias Dani was found guilty or violated Article 31 paragraph in conjunction with Article 6 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 16 of 1992 concerning quarantine of animals, fish and plants.

"In the cassation decision, the defendant Dani was sentenced to imprisonment for one year and four months, a fine of Rp. 100 million, subsidiary to three months in prison," he explained.

In that case, evidence has been secured, namely one unit of blue SB Bagaskara Express speedboat, 53 koliferencing containing crabs in a condition of laying eggs that have been released into nature.

"6 crabs in a state of laying eggs are set aside to prove the trial. One speedboat engine is seized for destruction," he said.

Harismand explained that the convict Dani at that time had served a sentence of four months and had to serve the rest of the prison sentence according to the Supreme Court's decision, namely one year plus a subsidiary of three months.

"The convict did intend to run away and usually lives in Malinau Regency. When arrested, Dani was only in Tarakan for a few weeks," he concluded.
