DKI Provincial Government Will Build Inscription, Let Residents Remember Cycling During Pandemic Period

JAKARTA - Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, said that his party would build an inscription with the theme of using bicycles near the bicycle path.

This inscription will be installed in the vicinity of the permanent bicycle paths of Jalan Jenderal Sudirman and MH Thamrin.

"There will be an inscription or art work located in front of the Indofood Tower building," said Syafrin when contacted, Wednesday, February 24.

According to Syafrin, the construction of this inscription aims to remind the public that cycling has benefits during a pandemic. Then, bicycle users also experienced an increase.

"The purpose of making the inscription is a reminder of the momentum of using bicycles as a massive means of transportation used by the public during the COVID-19 pandemic," explained Syafrin.

Currently, the DKI Provincial Government is building a permanent bicycle lane in the Sudirman-Thamrin area. The line, which will be completed at the end of March, is bounded by concrete on the left side by a public motorized vehicle lane.

The 11.2 kilometers long permanent bicycle path. 2 meters wide. Then, the divider uses pot-shaped concrete which will be filled with plants.

"For the protection of the bicycle lane, we use a planter box with a shape like a chain that is interconnected," said Syafrin.

The permanent bicycle lane on this protocol road will be equipped with several facilities for cyclists. Among them are way finding, footrests at intersections in the bicycle path, and rest areas in the form of a bike rack on the sidewalk.

Making this bicycle path costs around IDR 30 billion. The budget is not from the APBD, but rather from third party compensation.
