The City Government Of Wacanakan Revitalization Of 4 Colonial Forts In Ternate

TERNATE - The City Government (Pemkot) of Ternate plans to revitalize five colonial heritage forts in its area.

"The city of Ternate has five forts from the European nation and until now it still exists and stands firmly," said Ternate Mayor M Tauhid Soleman in Ternate, North Maluku (Malut), Friday, February 2, as reported by Antara.

The five colonial forts inherited from the European nation, namely Toloko Fort, Kalamata Fort, Kastela Fort, Kota Janji Fort, and Oranje Fort.

"Fortengs from foreign nations still stand firmly in Ternate City, from Portuguese, Spanish, Dutch and British," he said.

He said the Ternate City Government would continue to be committed to preserving the historical heritage so that the site became an icon of Ternate City.

"So far, of the five forts of colonial heritage, one of them has been revitalized, namely Fort Oranje," he said.

Meanwhile, the other four colonial heritage forts, he said, were only in the form of discourse for the gradual revitalization process.

"The existence of this legacy, God willing, will become an economic force and in the movement to strengthen the tourism base in Ternate City," he said.
