TKN Confused Mahfud Withdraws From Cabinet Called An Exemplary, Even Though It's Been 79 Days As A Vice Presidential Candidate

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team (TKN), Habiburokhman admitted that he was confused by the Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto who called Mahfud MD resigning from the cabinet an example. Because according to him, Mahfud has been concurrently serving as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs and Vice Presidential Candidates.

"I am confused if the political game is called a tauladan. Today is the 79th day of his dual status as a vice presidential candidate as well as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs," Habiburokhman told reporters, Friday, February 2. The deputy chairman of Gerindra was surprised, Mahfud had just declared his resignation ahead of voting day. Habiburokhman also suspected that Mahfud's move was only to save the declining electability. "It's only 14 days before voting. So if the presentation is about 84.9 percent of the time span for determining the candidate pair to voting, he lives with concurrent status," explained Habiburokhman.

"And if it is purely a political attitude, it should resign from the start of the list. If you step down at the end of this, it should be suspected that the motive is to save electability, that's people's logic," he continued.

Kendati demikian, Habiburokhman tetap menghormati keputusan Mahfud. Wakil Ketua Komisi III DPR itu menilai, mundurnya Mahfud semakin memperjelas hanya Prabowo-Gibran yang mengusung keberlanjutan program Jokowi.

"We are the only candidate pairs that will protect and secure all of Pak Jokowi's legacy, which is currently highly appreciated by most people," he concluded.
