Mundur Jadi Menteri Dipuji Ganjar, Mahfud: Langkah Politik Kita Jadi Bermartabat

Presidential Candidate number 3 Ganjar Pranowo praised his vice presidential candidate Mahfud MD for deciding to place his position in the government as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs in the D-13 presidential election in 2024. In response, Mahfud admitted that his decision was because he wanted democracy to be even more devoted.

Mahfud's conversation with Ganjar was through their respective X social media accounts.

"Yes, Mas Ganjar. We hope that our political steps will become more dignified for the future of democracy and a clean government in our country. Let's move forward together for the Republic of Indonesia," Mahfud said in his X account, Wednesday, January 31.

Vice President Mahfud MD stated that he is ready to resign from his position as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs today or D-13 for the 2024 presidential election.

He chose to meet President Jokowi first regarding this matter and at the same time submit his resignation letter.

Mahfud said President Jokowi is still out of town. So, he continues to bring the letter if at any time he is summoned to the State Palace, Jakarta.

"Today I have brought a letter to the president, to convey to the president directly about my political future which has recently become a public discussion and this letter will be submitted as soon as I get a schedule to meet the president," Mahfud said in a YouTube broadcast, Wednesday, January 31.

Mahfud's move was then praised by his partner in the 2024 presidential election, Ganjar Pranowo. The PDI-P politician (PDIP) admits respect for Mahfud's decision to leave the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet led by President Jokowi to prevent potential use of state facilities during the 2024 presidential election contestation.

"I respect and respect the decision to resign Prof. @mohmahfudmd to reduce the potential for abuse of state facilities," Ganjar wrote in his X account, Wednesday, January 31 afternoon.

Ganjar said Mahfud's move should be an example for state officials or other ranks of ministers if they participate in the 2024 presidential election and the 2024 General Election.

"This shows his very high integrity, hopefully this decision can be imitated by others," said Ganjar.
