Migrant Workers From Jember Become Murder Victims In Malaysia, Office Of Coordination With BP2MI

Head of the Jember Manpower Service (Disnaker) Suprihandoko said Indonesian migrant workers from Jember Regency, East Java, were suspected of being victims of murder in Malaysia.

"We are coordinating with the Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Agency (BP2MI) regarding the case," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 30.

According to him, the victim worked to Malaysia not through official channels or procedurally, so it was a bit difficult for his party to track down the victim's family.

"We are also still investigating what the victim is working in Malaysia because the December Manpower Office does not have data regarding victims who are illegal migrant workers," he said.

His party will coordinate with a number of parties and the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, regarding the repatriation of the victim's body. However, the case experienced by the victim requires special handling because he is a victim of murder.

"Still don't know when the victim's body will be returned to Jember because the police in Malaysia will certainly investigate the incident," he said.

His party will pick up the victim's body at Juanda Airport in Surabaya in coordination with BP2MI, so that the December Manpower Office will wait for information on the return of the body.

According to information gathered in the field, the victim named Windri Nur Fadila (18) who is a resident of Jenggawah Village/District who works in Selangor, Malaysia.

The victim reportedly worked as a cleaning service at a company in Malaysia and had worked for 10 months after the victim graduated from high school (SMA) in Jember.

Previously, a video circulated of an Indonesian migrant worker lying in a pathetic condition and there was a cut on his neck. The victim's body was found in front of the elevator of an apartment in Selangor, Malaysia.
