Pretrial Session On Harun Masiku Postponed Until February 12

JAKARTA - The South Jakarta District Court (PN) has postponed the trial of a pretrial lawsuit filed by the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) against the Corruption Eradication Commission or the KPK regarding Harun Masiku's legal process until February 12. The inaugural trial of the pretrial lawsuit was scheduled to take place today. "That's right, the trial has been postponed," said Acting Public Relations of the South Jakarta District Court Djuyamto to VOI, Monday, January 29. The delay in the trial was due to a request from the KPK. The anti-corruption agency actually asked for a three-week delay. However, the panel of judges who tried the case only granted the postponement for two weeks MAKI sued the KPK to try former PDI-P (PDIP) legislative candidate Harun Masiku in-absentia or without a presence.

MAKI Coordinator Boyamin Saiman said the lawsuit filed was a pretrial because it was related to the termination of the case carried out by the anti-corruption commission. This is expected to be a break-up so that Harun Masiku's business will be completed soon. "This pretrial lawsuit is in order to prevent the Harun Masiku case from being used as a hostage or political commodity ahead of the election," he said. Harun is a suspect in giving bribes to former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan. This gift was given so that he could sit as a member of the DPR through the interim replacement (PAW). He has been on the wanted list (DPO) since January 29, 2020. Most recently, the KPK informed that the National Central Bureau (NCB) of Interpol Indonesia had issued a red notice on behalf of Harun Masiku on Friday, July 30, 2023.
