KPU Ensures That The Technical Debate Of The Presidential Candidate Final Is Still The Same, The Audience Remains

JAKARTA - Chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy'ari conveyed that the technical rules and debate formats for the five presidential elections in 2024 were still the same as previous debates even though the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) proposed a debate event without spectators.

"The debate format, including the organizers, remains. There is still a successful team of 75 candidate pairs. So, still," said Hasyim as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, January 25.

Hasyim explained that the KPU had evaluated the fourth debate which took place on January 21, 2024. Each candidate pair had submitted their notes in the evaluation meeting.

"Later on the next occasion, the KPU will hold a meeting with the fifth final debate organizer TV, and later there will also be a next meeting that will bring together the KPU, the candidate pair team, and the television party who will hold the debate," said Hasyim.

The fifth debate, which will feature three presidential candidates on stage, will be the last official debate session held by the Indonesian KPU during the 2024 presidential election campaign period. The fifth debate is scheduled to take place on February 4, 2024.

Some of the themes raised in the last debate include social welfare, culture, education, health, human resources, information technology, and inclusion.
